Pure alpaca, fine and light with a soft sheen: warmer than wool at the same weight and very soft against the skin.
What it's for
Light jumpers, shawls, scarves and winter baby clothes. Many DROPS patterns hold it together with Brushed Alpaca Silk for a fluffier, warmer fabric.
How many balls
Adult jumper, size M: 8 to 9 balls. Scarf: 2 to 3. These are rough figures: always check the pattern.
Pairs with
It belongs to group A, like Baby Merino, Fabel and Safran. Two strands of Alpaca held together give the thickness of group C, the same as Nepal and Alaska.
Care
Hand wash at 30 °C maximum and dry flat, never hanging: alpaca stretches under the weight of water. Every 3 washes, Sfeltro helps prevent felting.
About this yarn
DROPS Alpaca is a lovely yarn spun from 3 strands of 100% superfine alpaca, with an extra twist to provide a durable surface. The alpaca fiber is untreated, which means that it is only washed and not exposed to any chemical treatment prior to the dyeing. This highlights the fiber’s natural properties, while it also provides a better shape and texture quality.
DROPS Alpaca has a large and varied range of patterns available in the DROPS collection. Garments made in this yarn are lightweight and comfortable, super soft directly on the skin, and have a nice, characteristic sheen.
